He received a Master’s degree from Southern Illinois University in 1962 and went on to receive a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Missouri in 1970. He grew up in Carthage, Illinois, on his parent’s farm with his two siblings, Arnold and Harold Wright. Arthur’s jobs included working on the farm, raising pigs, and road construction. Born in Seattle and lived in Seattle most of her life with most of that time as a resident on Queen Anne Hill.

She leaves behind her 2 children Leeanne E. Bates and Eric D. Bates . Her grandchildren are Alexis Bates, Christopher Parsell, Colton Parsell, and Alouetta Parsell. A visitation will be held from Noon-2pm on Wednesday April 25th at the First Christian Church of Bryan at 900 S Ennis. Funeral services will be held following visitation at 2pm in the church. Interment will follow the service at College Station Memorial Cemetery, with the reception to follow at the First Christian Church.
